Hemophilia
Landscape:

Exploring Novel Treatment
Mechanisms and Their
Impact on Patient Care

This Learning Center is a freely accessible educational platform for healthcare providers who may be involved in the care of patients with Hemophilia A and B. This initiative will review the novel mechanisms of action and clinical efficacy of newer hemophilia treatments and discuss cases of individualized patient care to achieve treatment goals.

Our goal is to ensure that you – the practicing clinician – have access to the most accurate, up-to-date information for the treatment of patients with hemophilia. We encourage you to share this educational resource with your colleagues and your healthcare team.

Activities

Activity 1. Novel Mechanisms to Manage Hemophilia: Examining the Efficacy, Safety, and Clinical Implications of Diversifying Treatment Options

Credit Available: .75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™

This activity will examine the efficacy, safety, and clinical implications of new and emerging treatment options by reviewing their mechanisms of action and the clinical impacts of dosing requirements and the presence or absence of inhibitors.

Course Faculty: Guy Young, MD, and Sanjay P. Ahuja, MD, MSc, MBA

Activity 2. Individualizing Care for People Living with Hemophilia: Emphasizing Shared Decision making, Addressing Psychosocial Needs, and Addressing Special Populations

Credit Available: .75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™

This activity employs clinical case scenarios to explore the methods and possibilities for improved clinical outcomes with shared decision-making (SDM)—a process increasingly important but underutilized in hemophilia. An intimate understanding of how next-generation therapies work also will prove vital to facilitate continued SDM, especially in special patient populations.

Course Faculty: Guy Young, MD, and Tammuella Chrisentery-Singleton, MD

Activity 3. Navigating a New Frontier in Hemophilia: Evaluating the Utility ofEvolving FVIIIa Mimetic Therapies to Address Unmet Needs

Credit Available: 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™

Hemophilia care is entering a new era with innovative factor and nonfactor therapies designed to overcome persistent challenges such as inhibitor development, frequent dosing, and treatment burden. This activity will explore available and emerging next-generation agents, including mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, dosing strategies, and clinical implications in patient care. Current and emerging data from pivotal trials will be discussed, a long with practical considerations for integrating these therapies into clinical practice. Through interactive, case-based scenarios, learners will gain insights into patient selection, switching protocols, and individualized treatment planning, ensuring a patient-centered approach to hemophilia management.

Course Faculty: Guy Young, MD, Glaivy Batsuli, MD, and Allison P. Wheeler, MD, MSCI
